A Recap of the Inaugural 2024 National Youth Civics Summit:

From July 7 – July 13, 2024, 16 high school students from across the country traveled to Washington, DC and participated in activities to deepen their understanding of civic duty and government. Throughout the week, the students explored the three branches of government, discussed recent Supreme Court rulings, toured the U.S. Capitol, and met officials including COL Gail Curley, Dr. Richard W. Spinrad, and Congressman Keith Self. Midweek, they visited Mount Vernon, met Ambassador Dennis Hearne and COL Alcuin Johnson, and toured Gettysburg after an interactive lesson on the battle. A formal dinner featured an inspiring leadership speech by Michael Rodriguez, President and CEO of the Global War on Terrorism Memorial Foundation. The summit concluded with visits to Arlington Cemetery, the National Mall, and the Pentagon 9/11 Memorial, with a memorable final night at the USMC Sunset Parade, meeting Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro, Marine Corps Commandant Gen Eric M. Smith, and SMMC Carlos A. Ruiz.

Student evaluations reveal the profound impact of the NYCS, with many participants stating it greatly influenced their career aspirations in government service.
